... As Administrators
The Lord Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd, has entrusted pastors with the leadership of His church (1 Peter 2:25). The Bible lists the pastor's responsibility, authority, and accountability. Paul told the Ephesian elders to "oversee" the church (Acts 20:28). The administrative function of pastors provides protection and leadership for the church (Hebrews 13:7, 17).
The Greek word for bishop in the Greco-Roman world was used for the office of supervision. The word describes a man charged with the duty of seeing that things to be done by others are done rightly. It refers to a curator, guardian, or superintendent. Such spiritual work requires divine wisdom for the smallest and largest decisions.
FOR TODAY: Pray that your pastors will lead with wisdom and vision.
