The Importance of Praying
Gardiner Spring (1785-1873) said, "Let the thought sink deep into the heart of every church, that their minister will be such a minister as their prayers make him…How perilous is the condition of that minister...whose heart is not encouraged, whose hands are not strengthened, and who is not upheld by the prayers of his people."
There is no greater gift you can give your pastors than to pray for them. On six biblical occasions the Apostle Paul asked people to pray for him along with his ministry team. Praying for your pastors is needed because: they are human (fellow believers growing in their knowledge of God as every other Christian), they carry the burden of the people (Gal. 4:19), and their impact with the gospel depends on it (2 Thess. 3:1).
FOR TODAY: Try praying for one of your pastors each day.
