"Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." Revelation 1:3 (KJV)
A lot of people don't read the book of Revelation, because they're terrified of what it says. But you can see here that there's a promise for those who read it, you'll be blessed. I'm guessing the blessing comes in the form of knowledge. You'll be blessed to be able to spot the signs and know what's coming and have an idea of what's going on. Some of it is coming to pass, some of it has already come to pass, and most of it is yet to come... So, it's important that you read this book. I've read it quite a few times and I'll admit that I don't get most of it, but as time goes on and world events start unfolding I start seeing what it meant more and more. It's one of the most important books in the Bible, and if you haven't read it then you need to. Revelation isn't meant to terrify you (the believer,) it's meant to give you the knowledge you'll need to spiritually survive the last days.
This verse also states that the time is at hand. Back when the book was written the time was at hand, now it's even more at hand. The time for the return of Christ is soon, if not this generation probably the next (But no man knows when.) Which is exactly why we need to be ready at all times. We need the knowledge of scriptures. I would go as far to say that if you don't know the Word of God, then when the final hour approaches you'll be in a lot of trouble because you won't be prepared for it. It's like going in for an exam that you didn't study for at all. Your setting yourself up for failure if you do not study! Be ready.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to know your Word and to be prepared for the things that are to come. Give us wisdom and knowledge. In Jesus name. A-men!
