"A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards." Proverbs 29:11 (KJV)
Some people just love to hear themselves talk, other people like to speak out of turn, and my favorite kind of person is those who speak before they have any understanding of what's going on. Those kind REALLY drive me crazy. They make an assumption and then assume that their assumption is true, and then they shoot off their mouth about it. They say things that later make them look like a real idiot. If God wanted us to put our foot in our mouth, then He would've made us that way to begin with. God doesn't want us to behave like idiots and speak out of turn and make assumptions. We need to keep our mouths shut until we're positive we know what we're talking about.
And we should be kind when we speak. That way at least when we're wrong the person we're wrong about will be kind to us. For example, instead of accusing someone of something... Ask them about it. Questions are good, because when we get answers we learn something. We never learn by making assumptions. I used to make the assumption that what I wanted is what God wanted. I didn't read my Bible back then, and I had the idea that God would want me to get revenge on those who did me wrong. Now, instead of looking like an idiot I could've went to God's Word and got the answers. I've said it before... My mother-in-law and my mother are both over weight, people assume that they over-eat. I've lived with both and both BARELY eat at all. They really do have under-active thyroids. It's funny when people make comments about people when they don't know anything, they think they know, but they don't... Which makes it even funnier. It's funny because they look like complete idiots when they do that. I know I've made that mistake too, I just hope that most of the time I don't look like an idiot.
LOL, judging by this devotion I'm guessing it's not hard to tell when someone has lit a fire under me.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to not make assumptions and not to be foolish with our mouths or our actions for that matter. Help us to be wise and to practice waiting to speak and not jumping to conclusions. In Jesus name. A-men!
