"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." 1 Timothy 6:7 (KJV)
When I see this verse, it makes me think of a book I read when I was younger. I don't remember the name of it, but this family was taunting their grandfather or father, can't remember that either... And they were waiting for him to die so they could get his money. They told him that he couldn't take it with him, little did they know that he lined his coffin with the money. So, when he died they got nothing. My point? You can bury your body with all your belongings, but even then you can't take it with you to where ever it is your spirit is going whether it be Heaven or Hell.
You came into the world with nothing, naked, and you'll leave the world with nothing. With that in mind, everything you "own" right now is just temporary or borrowed you could say. When you die it'll belong to someone else, unless you do like the old man in the book... But what's the point? Some of us take our belongings a little bit too seriously, if someone breaks something that's been in your family for generations then you're mad at them until you die... What's the point? It was only a material possession that is only temporary. We can't have an obsession with possessions. Instead our obsession should be on the Lord, and on building eternal treasures in Heaven. That is the only place where our possessions will be ours forever, nobody will steal them, they won't corrupt, they won't break, they'll last forever.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to not be obsessed with worldly possession. Let our focus be on you and things that are eternal. In Jesus name. A-men!
