"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy." Exodus 20:8 (KJV)
The Sabbath Day (Saturday,) is created for us to be a day of rest. A lot of us work on Saturdays, I even worked on Saturdays when I had a job... I felt obligated to do it, but guess what? They cannot make us work on a day that goes against our "religion" legally. But we do have to request that day off. So, maybe you won't get another day of the week off... So, what it's a fair trade. We need to keep the Sabbath Day holy and use it as a day of rest as God intended. Even worse some of us don't take any days off of work. My mother worked two jobs when I was growing up, and at one point she had 3 jobs. There were no days off for her. You feel like you have to in order to survive to be able to support your family, but what you need to do instead is just trust God and abide by His Will. He'll take care of you.
What we have to understand is that when we're trying to abide by the Will of God, we're going to be blessed in many ways for it. One of the ways we'll be blessed is by having God provide for our every need. "You can't always get what you want and if you try sometime you find You get what you need" the quote is from a Rolling Stones song. Bet you never thought you'd see that in a devotion. You just have to keep the faith, abide by God's Will, be in prayer, and you'll get what you need. But if you disobey the Will of God, then you're going to find yourself struggling in many ways: financially, physically, etc. I wouldn't say it's God punishing you, but there are consquences for disobeying God. He has made these rules for our own good, there's a reason for all of His commandments. He didn't just draw up the commandments because He wanted to boss us around, He did it because He wants the best for us in every possible way. So, if your current work schedule has you working on Saturdays, try talking to your boss to get it changed.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to do your Will and not our own. Help us to keep the Sabbath Day holy and give us the faith to know that you'll provide for us. In Jesus name. A-men!
