Some people just love to hear themselves talk, other people like to speak out of turn, and my favorite kind of person is those who speak
before they have any understanding of what's going on. Those kind REALLY drive me crazy. They make an assumption and then assume that their assumption is

her.

(18) For John had been saying to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.

Was the problem that John had forgotten Proverbs 9: 8?

"Reprove a wise man and he will love you." (Proverbs 9: 8)

Where did Herod go wrong? Was it his fear of John? (Mark 6: 20)

(22) when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests; and the king said to the girl, "Ask me for
whatever you want and I will give it to you."

What was the real problem with Herod? Was it that he was so pleased with her (what he saw with his eyes) that whatever he gave her would cause him to feel
the same pleasure that she would have?

Let's remember John the Baptizer. His mouth came to be shut when his head was whacked off. And isn't that the goal of the resister of God? (i.e., for
others to keep their mouth shut?)

"When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the
testimony which they had maintained;.." (Rev. 6: 9)

(2) What lesson can we glean from Rev. 6: 9?

(3) Should we give up our freedom of speech because of fear of being harmed?

When the fire burns away what is impure in our lives (like speaking out of turn and sounding like an idiot), then you can know that the fire came from the
Lord. His reproof always ends up making us more like HIM, not more worldly. The Father corrects those who are His. I know that He has had to do a LOT of work
to get me to keep my mouth shut more often. He frequently has to remind me that TODAY is a good day to keep my big fat trap closed! That is, except to sing HIS
praises! That we should ALWAYS be ready to do.
